jazz plus picks 007 | Jim Molyneux (Glowrogues) | 13.05.17

Jazz plus caught up with Jim Molyneux, one of the huge talents behind GLOWROGUES, to hear what tunes he’s into at the moment.

GLOWROGUES will perform at jazz plus presents at Notting Hill Arts Club on Saturday 20th May, advance tickets are available HERE.

SiR – Sugar

This guy is a Californian R&B singer songwriter and I really love his stuff. The groove on this track really stood out to me, and I love the shades of D’Angelo in his delivery.

Mura Masa – When U Need Me

Mura Masa has a new album out in July and I can’t wait for it. This is my favourite track which he’s ever released. I love how it has claps on the 1+3 and he still makes it sound cool somehow.

Joni Mitchell – Blue

One of my all-time favourite songs. How do you write lyrics like that?! Where do you even begin? This woman is a force of nature.

Francis and the Lights – I Want You to Shake

Everyone who is into the production of electronic music should check out this album. It’s so fun to listen to. This is my favourite track off it – ridiculous Prince/Phil Collins vibes. I’ve seen him live twice and he’s absolutely bonkers.

Kendrick Lamar – How Much a Dollar Cost

Amazing album, and you can hear Robert Glasper all over it. He really stamps his mark on this track with those lush Radiohead chords at the beginning.
